Aqaba, 12 March, 2014 – Aqaba Marine Park (AMP) celebrated the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden Day. This year, the main event was an “Open Environmental Day” hosted by Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZA) and AMP.
During this day 65 scouts were invited by the public relations and awareness section at AMP to an orientation session on the marine habitats, and they were introduced to many marine species including coral, sea shells and sea grass.
After the session, the scouts participated in a beach cleaning campaign which took place at the protected area No. 1 in AMP.
The event was sponsored by the Regional Organization for the Conservation of the Environment of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden (PERSGA) as a part of their strategic awareness plan in the region. Habib Abdi, Chief of Awareness at PERSGA thanked the participants and the organizers for their efforts in this special day.
